This was an eventful weekend, the battles and show

This was an eventful weekend, the battles and showcases were dope. The riots at Venice that stemmed from LAPD panicking at the large number of hip hop heads storming the beach, then trying to cancel the days event,… not so much. It was a bunch of us BBoys up rocking against LAPD in riot gear… 🤦🏻‍♂️ writers hitting up buildings and cars as we walked up and down the beach front… it was one for the books.

This event tee is from one of Portland’s famed POH HOP (Portland Oregon Hip Hop) shows. This was the 1997 POH HOP III and a very memorable show for me because I performed both nights, first with my BBoy crew Portland Street Rockers, then singing hooks and ad-libs with our Swank Life Crew for @arjaymusic @king_ritzo and Sam Brents aka Skinfa Red.

These were great memories and I’d say a height in culture for Portland’s hip hop scene.

There was some serious talent on this lineup. No Joke… some are still hitting hard today. 👊🏼
